Belmont Midi Skirt

I'm 5' 10", 135 lbs, and I have a 34" inseam. I almost ordered a small based on the size chart, but sized up to a medium because long legs take long strides, which can make walking in long skirts challenging. When I pulled this on, I was quite surprised that it came all the way up to my arm pits! I was particularly confused because I thought I had bought a skirt. Upon review of the description, I realized it had a "fold-over waistband." I would not describe it as a fold-over waistband when it could double as a strapless dress. Unfortunately, the fold-over waistband had the effect of making me look like I had no waist if I either folded it enough times to make it a waistband or scrunched it down. It was also full length on me, and has a very short slit in the back, which forced me to walk like I was wearing shackles, making me feel off balance despite sizing up. The shape of the skirt was also not particularly flattering on me, making my entire lower half look like a giant, black rectangle. While I'm not voluptuous, I do have some curves. I'm honestly flummoxed by reviews that said this skirt fit well--I can't imagine any height/shape combo that this would work well on.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the style, the material and the fit. The waist is very comfortable and forgiving! Only downside is that there’s a seam running down the middle of the front of the skirt. I would prefer it not be there but hasn’t bothered me or stopped me from wearing it often.
