What it is: A lightweight pomade that provides textured definition and strong hold for hours with a soft-shine finish.
What it does: It’s ideal for medium to thicker hair types. All Baxter of California pomades can be mixed and matched to achieve a multitude of hair styles.
How to use: Put a fingernail-sized amount of pomade into the palm of your hand and rub hands together to emulsify. Apply evenly throughout damp or dry hair. Use more product for increased hold and style. Apply product to wet hair for a more wet-look finish. Apply to dry hair for a more natural look with less definition.

works well, smells nice
I received a sample of this in one of my beauty orders. Since I don't have any use for a hard pomade, I gave it to my husband to try. He is quite picky about hair products and he really liked this, so I ordered it for him. It's small, very stylish container (definitely looks nice on the counter or in the medicine cabinet). He says it smells nice (I agree) and as long as you don't use too much, it leaves your hair feeling soft, but with the ability to hold a style. Not to heavy or sticky.

They changed the formula. It's BAD. Shiny+No Hold
I am incredibly DISAPPOINTED with the new formulation.
I've bought this product for years. It was the only hair pomade that I liked. It always gave me a really strong hold with a very natural and smooth finish. They discontinued this product for almost a year and I was devastated. I struggled to find any other pomade that was similar. FINALLY they re-released this product and I was so happy to have it back. I ordered 3 of them because I missed it so much. To my disappointment the product was nothing like how I had remembered it and inaccurately described. It does not hold your hair up well at all. An hour after putting it in my hair falls back down the way it naturally does. AND on top of that is so shiny and nothing like the old natural finish. The new formula doesnt even look like the product photos here. It's not firm and is more of a paste.
I thought there was maybe too much water in it, so I left the jar open for a day. This definitely helped but it's still not the same. PLEASE for the love of god go back to the old formula. This new formula is terrible and I will not be buying more until it is fixed. WHEN it is fixed I will buy it again and again and again as I used to for years.
The photo shows it two days after air drying where it finally got a little bit firmer.

Not a bad reformulation.
Reached out to Baxter before making my purchase. Yes, the product has been reformulated, as Baxter has changed some of its manufacturing partners. However, I have noticed SEVERAL reviews across many sites from the same unhappy customer, claiming the product has no hold now. It still works great for me, as I remember prior to the reformulation. If you liked this product before, it still works great.
When using a mousse as a prestyler, this product will outperform many of my clay-based hair products for longevity of hold, even if I use a mousse with those clay products.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BRING THIS BACK! I cannot go one more day without this product. I am on my last thimble amount left. I've scoured the globe looking for an alternative and I just cannot find one. This product is unmatched. It is perfect in every way. I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I've bought at least 15 alternatives trying to find one that compares, but nothing will ever compare to this. I'm done looking for more products, nothing is like this product.
It keeps a strong hold all day long. It doesn't look shinny even when it's hot and humid out. It washes out easily. It's perfect in every way.
