Walker Plain Toe Derby (Men)

1. back is not padded - hard as iron and will kill ankle, 2. Toe box top to bottom inside is <1/2'', not for feet, just for bare bones, width OK, 3. insert is about third of old one - not padded at all, 4. tiny transparent sticker says "Made in Bosnia". Overall heavy, thick and not good leather, bought the same size as for the last 15 years, can't wear. Looks like Nordstrom buys from nock-off producer. Black is a new shoe as seeing on photo.

I love the styling of the Walker shoe that I purchased. I live in New York City and I walk a great deal. I find that the heel cushioning and comfort is great, but I find the front half/toe a little less cushioned and comfortable. Also, these shoes do not have great insulation for cold pavement. I’ll probably tend to wear them for indoor activities and Outdoorsafter winter is passed. I still find that my Hoka Bondi Sneakers are the best, most comfortable and warmest, walking and activity shoes I’ve ever had.

The fit and materials used in this shoe are a throwback to a much-loved shoe from 25 years ago; the Ecco Cross. It was an all-day travel shoe fit for both extended walking and evening wear. The Walker promises the same. The Cross had its problems; namely the soles tended to split across lateral grooves; something the Walker will never do. I have 4 other pairs of Mephisto shoes in my closet at present, and the Walker is comparatively hot. That is the only reason I did not give a 5.
