'Rush' Walking Shoe

Talk about customer service!... After I wore out my favorite shoes (Rush sneakers), I sent them back to Mephisto for resoling and they came back looking brand new -- and served me wonderfully for several more years... Now, 10 years later, I started having back, knee and hip aches and pains. I remembered how comfortable my old Rush sneakers were and went out and bought a new pair. I'm sure Mephisto can't advertise their shoes as a cure-all -- but they are!! After wearing my Rush sneakers for a few weeks, the aches have all significatly receded. My husband calls them my "Magic Shoes." Not only do they feel great on your feet, right out of the box -- but they are good for your entire body! I would highly recommend them! (Plus, they look great, too.)

I have been wearing Mephisto Rush Oxfords for over 15 years and added Helen sandals to my wardrobe as soon as I spotted them. I also have the original pair of Rush and have used the repair service once or twice. I find it very difficult to find any other comfortable shoes regardless of cost. Pat in Las Vegas

My Rush Oxford was purchased in Germany about 10 years ago, and it's my fave of the dozens of shoes I own. This Mephisto is the most reliable of several different Mephisto styles in my closet. For extensive walking, nothing else can compare favorably--including so-called athletic walking shoes. Perhaps it's ready for refurbishment, but the idea of having it out of my house for even a short time is not on my agenda. Absolutely one great shoe design. Couldn't be better!

I have a very old pair of Mephistos that did wonders for my orthopedic issues and allowed me to walk pain-free. The orthopedic-like footbed is wonderful from the moment you try them on - I didn't need to break them in. I bought them from Nordstrom and loved them to the point of non-repair, so I need a new pair. Unfortunately, it seems Mephisto no longer offers Wide and their Regular/M run on the Narrow side. I tried to see if I could get them in Men's instead but Norstrom doesn't offer small enough men's sizes. I have vastly different-sized feet- a 7W and 8.5M so I ordered several sizes to try them out. The 8.5 fit my larger regular-width foot. However, in order to accommodate my smaller wide foot I had to size up from 7 (which fit length-wise perfectly but was way too narrow) to 8.5 just to fit the width, but this resulted in too much room from the toe to the front of the shoe. I would have loved to keep these shoes so I'm bitterly disappointed I can't fit my wide foot properly. I knocked 1 star off these shoes for the Narrow width. Taupe Nomad was just what I was looking for -great support without the sneaker look. I could have worn them to work. My real goal was to wear these to tone down my American Tourist vibe while in Europe. Wish the width was wider. The white version is cute too with a casual sneaker vibe. I wanted them for summer to wear with shorts and casual dresses. For some reason, the white version was the slightest bit roomier but still too narrow for my wide foot. I RECOMMEND these shoes for REGULAR-WIDTH or NARROW FEET. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR WIDE FEET- However, if you really want to try them, I'd suggest going up about 1 - 1.5 sizes to adjust for the width

These are not exactly like the old model I have been missing for years. The fit is slightly more narrow but I still wear the same size- 7.5. They are close enough! Love these shoes and especially the new shade of beige. They support like no other shoe. Eliminate lower back problems and my feet are so happy in them. I look forward to putting them on in the morning. They are comfortable from the start and they break in and become even more comfortable. If they feel a little loose, relax and let your feet feel the shoes. That’s how they are supposed to fit. You’ll soon appreciate it as your foot molds to the insert.
