Men's Fashion Tips & How-Tos

Learn how to tie a tie, clean suede shoes, buy a suit and so much more. In short, learn how to dress well and how to take care of your things—no matter where you're going or what you're doing.
How to Wear Plaid
Many think of plaid as a quintessentially fall pattern, but it works year-round. Angles, crisscrossing, crosshatching and stripes—plaid has it all (including a storied Scottish heritage). Some find plaid daunting, but it's easy to wear. Here are some quick ways.
Rock-Out Outdoors
Grunge rockers and lumberjacks popularized plaid jackets and coats (as well as flannel shirts worn as outerwear). It's a look that's tough and rustic and gives instant attitude to any ensemble.
Gateway Plaid
Windowpane is a nice introductory way of rocking plaid if you're pattern reluctant. It adds just a bit of graphic flair. Stealth are these trousers—the dark-on-dark tight tartan is almost indistinguishable from a solid.
Mix 'n' Match
Don't feel limited to wearing only one, single pattern. It takes a confident guy to pull off pairing plaid with stripes, but the payoff is bright and bold. In this particular look, the yellow ties it all together.
Dressed-Up (but Not Overdressed)
Plaid is also a preppy mainstay, and the perfect go-to shirt for vacation travel. Top it off with a blazer for a carefree yet elevated look that isn't overly formal.
