Whether she's soaking up the sun in Italy, island hopping in Greece or exploring another glamorous international hot spot, Adriana Degreas knows how to vacation well and look good doing it. The Brazilian designer has perfected the art of traveling in uber-chic fashion with her line of high-end swim and resortwear, now available at Nordstrom, and she's got us thinking about our next tropical trip.
Dreaming of a getaway yourself? We spoke with Degreas about all things vacation. Here's what she had to say about her favorite places to visit, where she finds inspiration and her number one packing tip.
Do you have any upcoming vacation plans?
I want to go to Greece next summer, but nothing concrete planned yet—it has been almost impossible for me to go on vacation with work. Last summer, though, I went to the Amalfi Coast with my family, and it was amazing!
How do you choose which swimsuits to bring on any given trip?
When it comes to me, I am more classic. I always bring a black one-shoulder swimsuit, a strapless bikini to get some tan and always caftans to go over them. I usually pack one swimsuit for each day I am staying away.
Favorite place to vacation?
I can't decide between Capri and Paros Island in Greece!
What is your favorite thing to do on vacation?
Relax by reading and being connected with nature.
What is your dream vacation destination?
From where do you draw design inspiration?
I'm inspired by organic architecture from the '70s and a lot from my roots—for example, by the works of Oscar Niemeyer; chic Brazilian tropical landscapes; ton sur ton—tone-on-tone—shades in nature, especially tones of green, which is my favorite color; vintage fashion and the feminine style of Yves Saint Laurent women.
Do you find inspiration when traveling?
Always. The fact that my mind is not being overwhelmed by work makes everything I experience become an inspiration.
Any essential packing tips?
Don't pack more than what you need—you will definitely do some shopping!
