New Years Eve Outfit Advice
One of the best things about New Year's Eve celebrations is planning the last outfit you'll wear in the present year—and the first you'll wear in the next. There's a reason that luxe leather, shiny satin and anything sparkly are quintessential NYE items: if there's ever a time to go out with a bang, this is it.
Before the big night, we tapped the expertise of three stylists from Nordstrom's Trunk Club, a personal styling service that delivers curated outfits right to your door. See what they suggest for trend-forward outfits that can be worn when the clock strikes midnight and into 2020.

I would suggest an outfit that is appropriate to how you're spending the evening, but still feels authentic to who you are. If sequined minidresses with painful stilettos aren't your thing in sub-zero temps, but you're headed for a glamorous night out on the town, try a silk jumpsuit in a richly hued tone with an oversized velvet blazer and glittery mules. Give yourself permission to be a little more daring than usual—New Year's Eve is a night where anything goes!
What trends are your outfit of choice based on?
This outfit is based on the menswear-inspired trends we've seen in women's fashion this year. As traditional norms are becoming dismantled around what women should and shouldn't wear, we're seeing bolder statements with suiting and jacketing accented with hints of edge and modern femininity.
Where would you wear this on NYE?
A sophisticated dinner downtown at my favorite upscale hotel, followed by dancing the night away.
How could this outfit be repurposed for other occasions?
You can wear the outfit in its entirety to a jazz club or a show, a new restaurant opening, or perhaps a weekend getaway in Vegas or NYC. You can also simply rock it on a girls' night out. As separates, the jumpsuit can be worn to a wedding, with elegant jewelry and a cashmere wrap, and the blazer over a graphic tee with dark denim and chic pumps, to the office.
What night-out trends will we see coming up?
Silk, long-sleeved midi dresses; luxe, knee-high boots; chunky heeled statement pumps in pops of color or animal print; puffed sleeves and shoulder pads on everything and faux fur bomber jackets in bold colors.

I would suggest a fun party dress as the base of your outfit. No matter where you're headed or where you live, a dress is a great place to start; you can go barelegged or add tights and pare back with the heels and accessories.
What trends are your outfit of choice based on?
My outfit is based on the glam trend—lots of focus on shine and glitz, which is perfect for any NYE festivity.
Where would you wear this on NYE?
Out to a fancy dinner, followed by cocktails with friends to ring in the new decade!

The clutch and the shoes can be worn on any night out or dressed up for a cocktail event. The dress is also a fun piece to keep in the closet for a special occasion—birthday, anniversary or fun holiday event.

Sequins, skirts and knee-high boots.

I put together a sequined dress paired with a satin blazer, edgy white booties and bold accessories. I love this look because you can wear it in a number of ways—you can take the blazer off or drape it over your shoulders for an effortlessly chic look.
What trends are your outfit of choice based on?
I based my outfit on plush texture, bold pops of color and maximalism.
Where would you wear this on NYE?
You can wear this outfit anywhere, from a dinner party with friends to a night out in the city.
How could this outfit be repurposed for other occasions?
The reason I chose the satin blazer is because it can be dressed up or down. You can pair it with a printed midi skirt, plaid pants or your favorite distressed denim. I also love the look of the booties with an oversized blazer, a fitted tee and jeans.
What night-out trends will we see coming up?
I would continue to look out for pops of color, menswear-inspired blazers, statement shoulders and textures like lace, velvet and feathers.
