Strategy, Governance & Reporting
Our CSR Strategy
Our ambition is to make meaningful, positive contributions in the communities where we operate and produce, take responsibility for the impacts of our business and pursue innovation that raises the bar for social and environmental issues in fashion and retail.
Goals & Impact Areas
As we look toward 2025, our corporate social responsibility efforts are focused on three priorities:
- Environmental Sustainability: Improving the sustainability of our operations and product value chains
- Human Rights: Driving systemic change to ensure positive labor practices and women's empowerment
- Corporate Philanthropy: Supporting families in the communities we serve and organizations that make our communities stronger
Within these priorities, we've identified impact areas and set measurable goals that are integrated into the work of teams across our business. By taking these steps, we hope to move faster than ever to make progress on these critical topics together.
Materiality Assessment & Stakeholder Engagement
We conducted our most recent materiality assessment in 2019, and we engaged a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders across our value chain. We've identified and prioritized the social and environmental issues that are most relevant to our business.
Based on this feedback, we've expanded our focus. We're considering how our products are made, who's making them and what happens to products and packaging when they're no longer useful. We're thinking about ways we can better support our communities. We're examining new ways we can operate. By considering CSR across our full value chain, we can set goals that make the most significant impact. And we're not in it alone. By partnering closely with nonprofits, experts, other retailers and brands, we can address industry issues.
We know there's more to come. We learn more about our impacts every day, so as new topics and concerns come to our attention, we anticipate setting additional goals that will drive additional progress over time.
Maintaining strong governance is critical to driving our ongoing progress and results. Our General Counsel and Chief Marketing Officer provide updates to our Board of Directors through our Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee at least once per year, if not more often. They receive feedback and answer questions from the members of that committee at that time.
We also maintain a Sustainability Committee made up of key executives and senior leaders from teams across the business. This committee meets quarterly and is chaired by our Chief Marketing Officer. Through the work of this committee, we're able to align on priorities and overcome roadblocks on complex projects and initiatives.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility team collaborates closely with the teams across our business that are working toward our shared goals.
