FAQ's & Bedding 101:
How to Choose a Comforter or Duvet
Bed comforters are one-piece toppers that are ready right out of the bag. A down comforter will keep you warm year-round thanks to its airy fluffiness. Have allergies? A down alternative comforter is just as cozy. Looking for an easy update to your bedding? Tuck your white comforter into a duvet cover, a separate outer layer, when you want a different style.
What is the Difference Between a Coverlet and Quilt?
Get hot at night or prefer something that's not too heavy? Bed quilts provide warmth without the bulk. Modern quilts designed with graphic patterns that are anything but traditional. A coverlet has decorative stitching like a quilt but is best used for texture since it's lighter. Sleep easy under a lofty cotton coverlet. Choose a linen coverlet for a casual-cool guestroom.
Comforter & Duvet Sizes
Standard dimensions for queen comforter sets and quilts range between 86-88" wide and 96-100" in length. On the other hand, king comforter sets are generally 102" wide and 86-88" long. Take note that bedding manufacturers may deviate from these guidelines. For example, a typical UGG comforter in a king size is 110" wide, so it's a good idea to measure your mattress to ensure you get a proper fit.
How to Wash a Quilt
You don't need to launder your quilt as often as your other bedding unless it lays directly against your skin, but always check the care instructions first before doing so. When in doubt, wash your quilt by hand. Separate your cotton quilt with like colors to prevent colors from bleeding. Have a king size quilt? Feel free to throw it in your washing machine on a gentle cycle.
