SUMMER VACATION CLOTHING ESSENTIALS ACCORDING TO A FASHION EDITOR
Summer season getaways are back in session, and you've got your flights booked and vacation days set. All of this means one thing: it's time to get your packing list ready to go.

We're all roaring to get out there, but things might feel unfamiliar after a couple of years of little to no travel. Packing for these trips can now feel like overwhelmingly foreign territory—which is why we tapped our Managing Fashion Editor, Kate Bellman, to share her top tips and tricks that'll help you (re)master the art of packing.
Luckily for us, Kate holds a virtual fashion event series every other Friday, so RSVP for all her future livestreams here, and read on to start packing!

Foundational Pieces
"The key to packing well—and to avoid overpacking—is to start with styles that'll play double duty. The point is to be able to make multiple outfits: think lightweight layering pieces to shrug over tees and button-ups, plus shorts and pants that you can mix and match with any top."

Day-to-Night Dresses
"For equal parts comfortable and chic, a dress will always be your answer. These will be the elevated go-tos of any suitcase that you'll reach for again and again during any vacation. Wear one to an alfresco lunch with a cropped jacket and some sleek flats, or throw on a pair of heels for a simple going-out look."

Tropical Prints
"A tropical print is an absolute must for any vacation packing list. It's an easy way to inject some color and instant vacation vibes to any look. Don’t be afraid to go all out and take a print from head to toe! Or if you want to scale things back, balance one print piece with a neutral color palette to make the colors pop."

Straw Hats & Totes
"A straw hat will be your best friend for blocking out those UV rays, and a straw tote is a practical carryall for any getaway—they're roomy, packable and light, so they make wonderful companions anywhere you go. Plus, they're universally flattering and look great with any outfit."

Wear-Anywhere Swimwear
"No vacation is complete without some solid swimwear! Go bright and bold in a happy-hued one-piece you can throw on under a pair of shorts, or for the ultimate UV protection, there are long-sleeve options too."

Versatile Sandals
"Whether they're the notoriously comfortable Birkenstocks or flip-flops fit for a minimalist, the move is to pack a pair of sandals that will be easy on your feet and work for a variety of looks you have packed in your suitcase."
